Why Pakistan’s military establishment is a good thing for Pakistan
It is an open secret in Pakistan that the country has been ruled behind the scenes by a cabal of a revolving door of military personnel. One could say that since the country’s inception in 1947, the military has had a hand in politics. The first Prime minister of Pakistan, Liaqat Ali Khan, murdered in 1951 under the most dubious of circumstances. His assassin killed by Punjab police on the spot rather than apprehended for questioning. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, hanged, his daughter Benazir, shot and killed by a mysterious perpetrator, and finally Imran Khan, two assassination attempts coupled with an abduction by the sitting government and military establishment.
By the paragraph above it may seem as though this article will be filled by anti-military sentiments, however, I am only here to sing praises towards Pakistan’s top military overlords. In my humble opinion it is correct that the military leadership of Pakistan treats its people like sheep in need of a shepherd. Even though the destination of that guidance may be the slaughterhouse, at least the sheep of Pakistan can enjoy the green views whilst walking towards their doom.
Another excellent action taken by the military of Pakistan is their extreme levels of corruption. I do say that if they had not been stealing from the people of Pakistan, the average citizen would have wasted that money on menial tasks such as providing for their families and giving them a better life. It is better that the esteemed military leadership of Pakistan drink out of diamond encrusted solid gold cups rather than doing their jobs (which is protecting the people of Pakistan from foreign threats).
Journalism is and has always been a dangerous job in Pakistan. Not only because of threats from criminal elements, but also due to unmarked ISI trucks patrolling the streets, nabbing any journalist who dares to report news that might anger Pakistan’s military masters. The modus operandi has always been to abduct journalists on false charges to keep them rotting in a prison cell till they eventually die “naturally”, or another faster option would be to just take them to an unmarked grave and push them inside. Either way the masters of Pakistan only do this to not create worry or panic in Pakistanis. Their little minds cannot handle such a thing as the truth.
There are many more examples of military benevolence that can be given, such as ISI using brothels as honeypots, playing cat and mouse with India on the border, taking the lion’s share of tax funds to line their pockets, but what I have demonstrated above should be enough for Pakistanis to stop rioting against the Pakistan’s military establishment.
